Mariana Vargas graduated from Roehampton University in 2018 with an MA in Creative Psychotherapy and obtained HCPC registration. Mariana has experience in diverse settings, from schools to forensic hospitals. She specializes in individual, couple, family and group interventions and applies integrated psychological modalities for a range of ages and disorders.
For the past five years, Mariana practiced as a systemic therapist in London, utilizing a needs-led intensive, home-based treatment model. There she treated children and young people presenting with antisocial behavioral problems and mental health issues, along with their families. In treatment, Mariana uses a variety of evidence-based therapeutic models including structural and strategic family therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) parenting interventions, solution-focused therapy and psycho-education.
Mariana is British and Colombian. She moved to New York in 2023 with her husband and beloved dog. Mariana’s personal and professional progression has created a passion for working with mental health and neurodivergent populations, which led to a career reorientation and the current pursuit of a PsyD from California Southern University. Mariana feels privileged and excited to start this new experience as a clinical extern at MPG with a particular interest in gaining further skills in testing, assessments, and diagnosis.
