The application of Scientist/Practitioner Methodologies in the Applied World of Behavior Analysis: Practical Lessons
This presentation will walk the participants through the stages of the scientist/practitioner model using examples of applied interventions that would illustrate the several tenets of the science of applied behavior analysis.
Learning Objectives
- To describe and provide three reasons for the importance of technical language to the fulfillment of the scientist/practitioner model
- To describe three reasons for the Importance of data collection and charting to support informed decisions
- To describe how to interpret the charted data and trend lines
- To describe how items 1, 2, and 3, above, were accomplished in the mand for information study
- Each participant will design his or her own intervention based on the scientist/practitioner methodology
About Instructor
Gladys Williams earned her doctoral degree in Special Education/Behavior Analysis from Columbia University - Teachers College. She has been the recipient of several awards, including the Fred S. Keller Fellowship from Columbia University, Teachers College. She has served as a reviewer to several behavioral journals and has authored and co-authored over 20 journal articles. has written chapters in books on school effectiveness, verbal behavior, classroom applications of behavior analysis, teacher training and parent training.
Dr. Williams is the founder of Centro CIEL in Barcelona and Oviedo, Spain, and of LearnMore, Inc., a project to promote effective teaching strategies and research and implementation of the Verbal Behavior Curriculum. She is also a cofounder of the GW Centro de Aprendizagem in Curitiba, Brazil. She serves as a consultant to programs for children with autism.
