David Schector is a fourth-year doctoral candidate in the School-Clinical Child Psychology program at the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, Yeshiva University. He earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Boston College.
David brings extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults across a range of clinical settings, including schools, university training clinics, and outpatient mental health programs. He has treated clients presenting with a wide variety of psychological and behavioral challenges, such as ADHD, executive functioning difficulties, disruptive behaviors, aggression, compulsions, depression, anxiety, and trauma-related symptoms.
His therapeutic approach is integrative and client-centered, drawing upon relational and attachment-based principles, as well as mindfulness and cognitive-behavioral frameworks. David incorporates evidence-based interventions, including the Unified Protocol for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders and the Zones of Regulation, which are tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. With younger children, he thoughtfully integrates psychodynamic play therapy to support emotional expression and healing in the context of anxiety, depression, and trauma. He has also been trained in trauma-focused CBT (TF-CBT).
In addition to providing both individual and group therapy, David has conducted comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for children and adolescents. He is proficient in the administration, scoring, and interpretation of a wide range of psychological and educational assessment tools.
