This webinar delves into Skinner's definition of reading and writing as verbal behavior, focusing on one evidence-based reading comprehension protocol. It outlines how contriving the establishing operation for reading results in a child's acquisition of the "need to read," a crucial aspect to a successful comprehension program. Participants will gain practical strategies to teach functional reading skills, specifically for non-fiction text.
Objectives:
- Participants will be able to define reading and writing skills in relation to verbal behavior.
- Participants will learn an intervention called Reader Immersion to improve reading comprehension.
- Participants will learn to contrive an establishing operation for reading.
- Participants will learn at least one variation of the Reader Immersion intervention.
