What is the Teens and Screens Group?

The Teens and Screens: Social Media & Wellbeing Group is a specialized program designed to help adolescents navigate the complex relationships between social media, mental health, and overall wellbeing.
This group creates a supportive environment where participants can explore their experiences and develop coping skills for healthier social media use.
Who can benefit from the Teens and Screens Group?
Our Teens and Screens group is tailored for adolescents ages 13-18. It is specifically designed for participants who struggle with:
- Balancing screentime and social media use with offline daily activities
- Managing negative feelings like anxiety, depression, and/or body image issues related to online interactions
- Utilizing mindfulness and maximizing focus
- Making decisions about screentime with family
- Regulating emotions both online and offline
What are the components of the Teens and Screens Group?
The group meets weekly for 6 weeks, including a session for parents. The program includes education and skill building regarding the following topics:
- Overview of Social Media and Mental Health
- Values Clarification
- The Brain and Body on Social Media
- Cognitive Restructuring
- Behavioral Activation
- Social Media Safety
- Parenting Tips (parent only session)

What are the goals of the Teens and Screens Group?
Participants aim to:
- Learn more about relationships between social media and mental health
- Identify personal values and how well they align with social media use
- Have a safe space to discuss experiences on social media with peers
- Amplify positive effects of social media on mood and wellbeing
- Learn coping skills for managing negative feelings related to social media use
Group Schedule
Sessions are held weekly:
- Sessions are held virtually for 6 weeks, including one just for parents
- Sessions will run for 60 minutes each
Groups run based on interest. If you're interested in one of our groups, please contact us. For skill building and support related to the benefits of this group, MPG can also create a tailored treatment plan based on individual service(s) or other types of support if there is not a group actively running at the time.
Pricing
Early Bird pricing is available up to six weeks prior to the group start. Standard pricing is $900 total ($150 per session), paid in full before the group starts. plus a $400 assessment fee for patients new to MPG. This fee includes the intake, 5 adolescent sessions, and 1 parent session. The intake includes a comprehensive packet and a brief in-person interview with the parent(s) and teen.
Assessment:
The intake may provide a diagnosis for (adolescents/parents) to use for out-of-network reimbursement from insurance for the group fee.
The intake includes a 45-minute abbreviated session for new MPG patients, or a 30-minute abbreviated session for existing MPG patients, involving the adolescent and their parent(s). The intake may provide a diagnosis to use for out-of-network reimbursement from insurance for the group fee.
The intake includes a comprehensive intake packet and a brief interview to assess fit, understand the adolescent's behavior, and identify goals for the program.
Cancellation Policy
There are no refunds or makeup dates for missed sessions. Full payment is required upfront.
