Dr. Lisa Wholey is a licensed psychologist in New York (#028200), Connecticut (#005312), and Rhode Island (#01530). She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) in her work with children, adolescents, young adults and adults. Her clinical approach is goal-oriented, task- oriented and collaborative. She partners with parents and caregivers to support children and adolescents, combining clinical expertise with practical guidance in anxiety management, parenting, school problems, and behavior management.
Dr. Wholey earned a Doctorate from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the School Psychology Program. She completed post-doctoral training at the Psychological Consultation Center and Child Anxiety Program at the University of Rhode Island. Dr. Wholey is a consultant for West Bay Collaborative at the Rhode Island Department of Education where she develops courses for educators to support students with anxiety in the school setting. As a clinician at The New England Center For Anxiety, she treated individuals with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Phobia, Panic Disorder, Health Anxiety, Body-focused repetitive behaviors, obsessive-compulsive disorder, ADHD, autism and disruptive behavior disorders. She has worked as a certified School Psychologist in New York and Rhode Island where she completed psychological evaluations and implemented evidence-based academic, behavioral and social emotional interventions.
Dr. Wholey has contributed at the state level serving on committees for new education and school psychology initiatives. She was awarded the Rhode Island School Psychologist Association Professional Service Award for exemplary leadership skills, and practice and dedication to the field. Her vast training and work experiences have included school consultation, behavioral assessment and intervention, parent programs to build family resilience, and assisting with research at hospitals including Harvard Medical School and Butler Hospital. Dr. Wholey has provided supervision and consultation to clinical teams and psychology students. She is a dedicated professional with the highest expectations for evidence-based clinical care.
